Spirits of Promise
Gerdean O'Dell has a new book
that compares the seven adjutant mind-spirits with the seven chakras
vortices
|
|
THERE
are those who conjecture that the Urantia Book
concept of the adjutant mind-spirits, as taught
by Machiventa Melchizedek and subsequently
carried by way of the Sethite priests into
India, survived as the seven chakra vortices.
While the theory that the adjutants and the
chakras are the same thing is still an obscure
idea, it is catching on. Gerdean O'Dell's
new book, Spirits of Promise: Seven
Chakra Vortices and Seven Adjutant Mind-Spirits,
seems to be the first time the theory has been
set to print. This book was written with
editorial help from Gerdean's husband and
partner, Angus Bowen.
Gerdean has done
presentations on this theory - which she
promotes as "The Goddess Within" -
to responsive and appreciative audiences. She
says, "Since liberated women are eager to exalt
the Divine Feminine, it seemed propitious to
introduce the concept of the adjutant
mind-spirits through the concept of the chakras,
which is a fundamental part of Eastern theology
that has become very popular with denizens of
the New Age. Men who are attempting to tap into
their feminine side, and women who are looking
for an antidote to the negative affects of the
traditional god of masculine authority, are
drawn to these discussions.
"It is not difficult
to link the spirit of intuition
with the root chakra, both of
which are concerned about survival; the
spirit of understanding with the
sacral chakra, both of
which provide a socio-sexual foundation for all
our relationships; and the spirit of
courage with the the third
chakra, located near the solar plexus,
both of which impact the developing sense of
self. The spirit of knowledge
and the heart chakra have much
in common, notably the capacity to thrive and
grow, heal and persevere, and to learn from
our experiences. The comparison between the
throat chakra and the
spirit of counsel is clearly seen in
the many ways creatures express themselves. The
sixth chakra, known to many as
"the third eye," is about perception, as is the
spirit of worship, for what we
worship colors everything we do. And the
seventh chakra, the crown chakra, is
the spirit of wisdom, the
crowning glory of all the previous adjutants and
chakras, and the fruition of human experience.
Gerdean adds that this
study does not get into the arrival of the
Thought Adjuster or the attainment of the Spirit
of Truth, nor does it discuss the seven psychic
circles which, she surmises, is the next logical
step to be developed in this theory; this
book focuses
entirely on the adjutants and chakras. Gerdean
stresses that there is much more to be learned
and said about their commonalities than is
covered in this book, but that Spirits of Promise
is a good start on a fascinating concept, a
concept that appeals to a vast audience and
which invites further study and cultivation.

A Comparison Overview |
|
Chakra |
|
Adjutant
Mind-Spirit |
|
7. The
Crown Chakra, located at the
very top of the skull, or hovering over
it, is sometimes referred to as the
Lotus Blossom of Enlightenment.
Depicted most often as white light,
although sometimes it is seen as purple
or gold, the crown chakra relates to the
higher mind, and beyond to full
consciousness and universal identity. It
relates to consciousness as pure
awareness, our connection to the greater
reality where All is One. When fully
open and developed, the crown chakra
reveals itself in us as the I AM
consciousness. This is the chakra that
opens to the Buddha within and lifts us
up into All That Is. It is the
holistic culmination of passion,
understanding, courage, knowledge,
counsel, worship and wisdom, precursors
to Nirvana. Such is our divine
birthright.

7.
Spirit of Wisdom - the inherent
tendency of all moral creatures towards
orderly and progressive evolutionary
advancement. This is the highest of the
adjutants, the spirit co-ordinator and
articulator of the work of all the
others. This spirit is the secret of
that inborn urge of mind creatures which
initiates and maintains the practical
and effective program of the ascending
scale of existence; that gift of living
things which accounts for their
inexplicable ability to survive and, in
survival, to utilize the co-ordination
of all their past experience and present
opportunities for the acquisition of all
of everything that all of the other six
mental ministers can mobilize in the
mind of the organism concerned. Wisdom
is the acme of intellectual performance.
Wisdom is the goal of a purely mental
and moral existence.
|
|
6. The
Brow Chakra is located at the
front and center of the brow, closely
related to the pituitary. It is depicted
as violet. The brow chakra
recognizes spirituality. It is
often called “the insight chakra” or
“the third eye” – the door of
perception. It relates to
consciousness of a Higher Being, or our
Higher Self.
|
6.
Spirit of Worship - the
religious impulse, the first
differential urge separating mind
creatures into the two basic classes of
mortal existence. The spirit of worship
forever distinguishes the animal of its
association from the soulless creatures
of mind endowment. Worship is the badge
of spiritual-ascension candidacy.
|
|
5. The
Throat Chakra is located in the
throat. Its color is blue. It is
the font of personality expression and
the instrument of communication and
interactions with others. It connects
to the heart and the brow.
|
5.
Spirit of Counsel - the social
urge, the endowment of species
co-operation; the ability of will
creatures to harmonize with their
fellows; the origin of the gregarious
instinct among the more lowly creatures.
|
|
4. The
Heart Chakra is located in the
center of the chest, under the
breastbone. Its color is green, as if to
represent fertility and growth. The
energy of the heart chakra strives to
connect our physical, emotional, and
mental self to our soul Self.
|
4.
Spirit of Knowledge - the
curiosity-mother of adventure and
discovery, the scientific spirit; the
guide and faithful associate of the
spirits of courage and counsel; the urge
to direct the endowments of courage into
useful and progressive paths of growth.
|
|
3. The
Solar Plexus Chakra relates to
the nerve center in the solar plexus,
about a palm above the navel. Its
color is yellow, and says without fear
or shame, “Look at me!”
Emotionally, this is the lesser “I am”
chakra, the self-conscious and
self-awareness chakra that is essential
for self-care. Personal power,
self-control or discipline of the ego
comes from here. .
|
3.
Spirit of Courage - the
fidelity endowment—in personal beings,
the basis of character acquirement and
the intellectual root of moral stamina
and spiritual bravery. When enlightened
by facts and inspired by truth, this
becomes the secret of the urge of
evolutionary ascension by the channels
of intelligent and conscientious
self-direction.
|
|
2. The
Sacral Chakra is located below
the navel. Its name comes from the
sacrum triangular bone found in the
lower back. It is orange, the
starting point and the building block of
our conscious lives. It is associated
with elimination and reproduction, as
power and sex.
|
2.
Spirit of Understanding - the
impulse of co-ordination, the
spontaneous and apparently automatic
association of ideas. This is the gift
of the co-ordination of acquired
knowledge, the phenomenon of quick
reasoning, rapid judgment, and prompt
decision.
|
|
1. The
Root Chakra, or base chakra, is
located at the base of the spine.
Its color is red and its focus is on
survival. It is the foundation which
grounds us in the physical plain.
Although we are mostly unaware of the
root chakra’s influence, we can learn to
recognize the impulse to act, and the
“fight or flight” sensation that
follows, in order to make more
intelligent choices.
|
1.
Spirit of Intuition - quick
perception, the primitive physical and
inherent reflex instincts, the
directional and other self-preservative
endowments of all mind creations; the
only one of the adjutants to function so
largely in the lower orders of animal
life and the only one to make extensive
functional contact with the
non-teachable levels of mechanical mind.
